What is Chakra Dancing?

If you have wondered what Chakra Dancing is all about, and been interested in trying it out, now’s your chance, as Ruth McEwen, a fully qualified Chakra Dancing and Mindful Meditation Therapist, Reiki Master and Sound Healer, is delighted to be facilitating our ecstatic Chakra Dancing and Guided Meditation experience.

Chakra Dancing is a free-form somatic movement and dance therapy that encourages the dancer to move mindfully to beautiful music, specially selected to resonate with the vibrations of each of the body’s 7 major chakras, or energy centres. Ruth takes you on a journey to open and rebalance your chakras from your root chakra to the crown, focusing on the heart Chakra.

In this safely held space, Ruth will invite you to let go of the day to day internal chatter, to release any stress, tension and judgement, to simply to dance and move expressively in your own unique way.

The experience is revitalising, rebalancing and relaxing.

After the 1 hour dance, Ruth offers a deeply relaxing guided meditation.

Regular somatic movement, dance and meditation is proven to lower the stress hormones that increase harmful cortisol levels leading to inflammation, reduced ability to fight off infections, and physical and mental health issues if elevated for long periods of time.

Welcome to SunFire's Ecstatic Dance Fridays!

ther at St James Church Community Hall in Pokesdown, Bournemouth.

This is a conscious dance practice of movement and free flowing dance that integrates emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing.

We embark on a movement journey allowing moments of gentle flow, natural rhythm, release, elation, stillness and reflection. When we move, we can quiet the mind and innately embody the rhythm of the music, freeing our selves and opening us to new perspectives. There are no steps to follow, just your own feet and your own heartbeat. There will be moments of guided meditation and others where you can deep dive into the music.

We invite Conscious Dance facilitators to lead us through a movement and sound journey. Tonight Ruth McEwen, Chakra Dancing and Mindful Meditation Wellbeing Therapist, will lead us on a Sacral Chakra movement journey. Apt as we are in the Autumnal season where root veggies are in abundance and a few days from Halloween celebrations.

This is a sober event.

Arrive sober and remain so throughout the event.

We dance barefoot.

We refrain from conversations on the dance floor.

Be respectful of yourself and others.

Move spontaneously to a ecclectic mix of music.

What to bring:

- Water bottle.

- Comfortable clothes that you can move in - some like floaty garments, other's like wearing yoga style clothing.

- Yoga Mat or towel.

- Shawl or small blanket.

🚗PARKING:

If you are driving to the venue, St James' have confirmed that you can drive in at the main entrance on Christchurch Road and park on the school playground, demarkated by the circled arrow in the image below.

Please turn in at the driveway to the Church, shown with the ARROW marked in the picture below, as the Satnav will take you to King's Park Drive.

St James' is a short walk from Pokesdown Train Station and on the main bus route between Bournemouth and Christchurch.

We dance in the Community Hall behind the main church building.
