Verre Eglomise is the art of gilding and painting on the reverse side of glass to create a mirrored finish
In this full day workshop you will discover the techniques and equipment to produce a unique piece of art work. You will work on a smaller glass panel using the 'reverse working' technique.
Once you have mastered this technique you can use the process to make any number of stylish decorative gilded items. It can be used to great effect on any forms of glass, tinted and textured, to produce bold, contemporary or delicate pieces which can be incorporated onto furniture, table tops, wall panels, splashbacks and bespoke doors and kitchen units, and works of art.
This workshop is led by Ian Newman, B.A. (Hons) M.A. Conservation, Restoration and Decorative Arts
Ian has worked on projects in stately homes as well as on many private commissions, (both large and small!). Over a number of years Ian has restored and transformed many treasured frames and artifacts for clients and customers using non-intrusive techniques as much as a possible, to maintain the integrity of the item. Working with Interior designers and their clients.
