Join us to hear the results of Gary’s research: Grandad Was A Green ‘Oward, the ‘Unofficial History’ of an ‘Unofficial Pal’s Battalion’…
A native of Middlesbrough, our Speaker Gary Guess, has researched his grandfather’s service with the 12th Battalion (Teesside Pioneers) of the Yorkshire Regiment. This has evolved into one of the few Battalion histories of the Yorkshire Regiment, and one of the even fewer projects focussing on the unsung heroes of Great War service, the Pioneers, the men digging the trenches, laying the roads, and generally building the infrastructure on which an Army depends. But don’t be fooled, this work was done in close proximity to the enemy as many a western front cemetery can attest.
Join us to listen to his fascinating story. Your ticket includes museum entry, a welcome drink and the talk.
We recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.
