The London Sewing Swap is held at Thames-Side Studios Woolwich and is organised by Stash Hub and Bornella Fabrics. Attendees can swap unwanted sewing tools, patterns, notions, and fabric. Tickets are priced at £4.00.
Swap your unwanted sewing items including fabric, patterns, notions and tools for items you will use!
Got lots of sewing stuff you wont use cluttering up your stash? The Bornella Fabrics x Stash Hub swap is back to help you exchange it for something you will love!
Tickets
We don't want the swap to get too crowded, so we have split the tickets into two time slots: 11am-2pm and 1pm-4pm. You're welcome to arrive anytime during your time slot. Don't swap 'til you drop! We encourage you to pop out to the café and come back to see what new treasures have arrived!
The venue
Thames-Side Studios is the largest artists studios complex in London, with over 550 studios supporting London’s creativity. The fabric swap will be held in the Education Space in Unit 2, with a sweeping view of the river Thames.
Just along from the Education Space in the Trinity Wharf building is the Arts Café, with a large outdoor terrace overlooking the Thames. If you want a sit down or place to meet, there is also a landscaped seating area not far from the Education Space - it’s right underneath the mural. You can’t miss it!
Please note, the Education Space and Arts Café are not wheelchair accessible as they are both on the 1st floor of their buildings.
Transport
There is free parking on site. There are many transport options to get to Thames-Side Studios. Woolwich Dockyard is the nearest train station and it is approximately a 15 minute walk. Nearest tube is North Greenwich. You can get buses 161/180/472 from North Greenwich. The Thames-Side Studios are next to the Thames path so cycling (or even walking) is a great option if you’re coming along the river. There are places to park your bike on site.
What to bring
Quilting precuts and fabric remnants
1-2m lengths of fabric
2-3m cuts of fabric
3+m cuts of fabric
Sewing patterns
Notions/Haberdashery including fastenings, thread, trims, labels
Sewing tools
Please label your fabric with the length and fibre content (if known) and only bring clean items of good quality that others could make use of.
Don't forget to bring a bag to carry home your new stash!
How it works
We will have tables set up for each of the categories listed above. Bring along your sewing supplies and place them on the appropriate tables when you arrive. If you spot anything that inspires you, you're free to take it! We won't be issuing tokens. You're welcome to take home more than you bring, just be mindful not to take more than you can use.
About the organisers
This sewing swap is brought to you by Yvette (Stash Hub) and Tanya (Bornella Fabrics). We are both passionate about fabric and love sewing our own clothes. Of course, we also love fabric! Unfortunately, there is such a thing as 'too much fabric' - your collection will start to feel overwhelming and uninspiring. We've teamed up to host this sewing swap event so you can easily refresh your stash whist minimising textile waste. Plus, it will be great fun to hang out with loads of fellow sewists!
About Stash Hub
Stash Hub is a sewing organiser app for iOS, Android and Web that helps sewists catalogue their supplies and plan inspiring projects. It was created by husband-and-wife team Doug and Yvette. Yvette says: "Our mission at Stash Hub is to help you fall in love with your stash. It's really hard to feel inspired by your stash when it feels stagnant, so I was keen to host a swap to help you refresh your fabric and pattern collection. The process of choosing what to bring to the swap allows you to be really honest about what you'll actually use. Rehome what you won't use in a sustainable way, whilst discovering gems others have brought and allowing more inspiration into your sewing space."

About Bornella Fabrics
Bornella Fabrics is the home of sustainable sewing. Tanya says: "I only stock fabric and haberdashery which is environmentally responsible. But just because the fabric is sustainable, doesn't mean it's boring. I LOVE a good print - particularly prints with a retro nod. As part of my commitment to sustainability, I want to do more than just selling more ’stuff’. The most sustainable solution is always to use what we already have, which is why the swap is so important to me. Someone’s junk is another's treasure so it’s great to get unloved items back into circulation and meet some like-minded people at the same time"
