The Heritage Festival, celebrating 90 years of the Highland Folk Museum, will occur on September 17th, 2026, at the Am Fasgadh Building in Inverness. The event features various sessions, including #LearnwithLorna, with ticket prices available on the website.
Come along and #LearnwithLorna, in person, where she shows us how archives can help in tracing the history of both people and places.
As part of the Highland Folk Museum's 90th anniversary celebrations, come and hear how the archives help trace the history of the founder, Dr Isobel Grant, and the Highland Foldk Museum's Aultlarie Steading. This talk will be led by one of our regular Festival speakers, Lorna Steele-McGinn. The event will be held in the Am Fasgadh building, where there is limited parking.
Lorna is the Community Engagement Officer for the Highland Archive Service. Her work involves connecting a wide range of audiences to the diverse historic collections held in AS’s four archive centres through an extensive engagement programme which includes collaborations with schools, adult learning groups, HMP Inverness, care homes and numerous other organisations and individuals.
‘Learn With Lorna’, her online series of talks about the Highland Archive Service collections, has to date over 260 episodes and over 500k views.
Pre-booking is essential.
Donations received for tickets will be passed on to the Highland Folk Museum after the event.
The talk will start at 11am, so please turn up 10 minutes before the event.
We look forward to meeting you at the event!
