These sessions are for 8-12 years and for children only. Sunday 16th August - Fabulous Charcoal Creations Make your own charcoal then then get creative with it. Charcoal has been used by artists from time immemorial. Come along and discover how to make your own charcoal, then draw a picture with the carcoal you make afterwards. Sunday 23rd August - Whittle a toy Many toys were traditionally made form wood. Come along to the forest and find suitable wood before making a wooden toy to take home. Sunday 6th September - Wizards Wands Whittle your own wand from the perfect piece of Hazel wood. Are you a wizard in waiting? Come along and be shown how to make your own wand, by whittling hazel wood. Take it home at the end. Spell results may vary. Sunday 20th September - Bushcraft Weans Building and lighting fires, shelter building, collect and boil water. All vital skills to learn in the great outdoors. Come and discover how to do these and more on this ranger led session of survival. Sunday 27th September - Marvellous Minibeasts Discover the tiny natural world at mugdock on this minibeasts and pond dipping session. Come along and see which of our tiny but vitally important invertebrate species you can find, on this land and water based minibeast hunt. Monday 28th September - Bows, Arrows & Target Practice Are you a budding Robin Hood or would you like to be an Elf from Lord of the Rings? A good start is to make yourself a bow and some arrows. This session will show you how and there will also be time for some target practice too, before you take your bow and arrows home. Sunday 4th October - Wellie Walk & Fire Making Go for a wander through bogs and ditches before building and making a fire. Head off into the wilds with the ranger on a wellie walk, before building and lighting a fabulous fire in one of our wild places.
