Over the last few centuries, many authors have been inspired to pick up their pen to write about the Palace of Holyroodhouse and the treasures contained within its walls. These sessions will explore the objects and spaces behind these literary works before diving into a hearty discussion over a cup of tea or coffee. Please note, texts are not included in the ticket price, and should be purchased to read beforehand. March - The Queen’s Consort, Steven Veerapen Read about Mary, Queen of Scots from the perspective of her second husband, Henry Stuart, Lord Darnley, and explore some of the historic rooms they both called home. June - The Edwardians, Vita Sackville-West Inspired by her own upbringing, enter the world of Vita Sackville-West's novel set in Edwardian aristocratic society before going to see our exhibition The Edwardians: Age of Elegance. September - The Winter Sea, Susanna Kearsley Explore the early Jacobite uprisings before visiting some of the rooms built for the Stuart monarchs and delving into their turbulent legacy. December - The Prince and the Pauper, Mark Twain Mark Twain's fantastical novel, set in Tudor London, provides the backdrop for this discussion about the Tudors and Stuarts.
