About This Event

The Royal Scots Club will present a stage adaptation of *I, Claudius: Part 1* on Monday, 17 August 2026, commencing at 6.15pm. This production, drawn from Jack Pulman’s 1976 television screenplay, explores the corruption, intrigue and violence endemic within the Roman imperial family. Claudius, the stammering historian, becomes the unwilling narrator of the decadence and bloodshed orchestrated by Augustus Caesar and Livia. The drama develops as a taut character study, examining the corrosive effects of absolute power. Ticket prices can be found on the venue’s website.

This production is the first part of a dynastic conflict set in Imperial Rome. It is adapted from Jack Pulman’s 1976 BBC screenplay.

Tickets for Part 2 are sold separately. The play is also staged on 19, 21, and 22 August 2026, with the option to book both parts as a double bill on 21 and 22 August.
