About This Event

Balancing in Freedom is set to grace the stage at The Scottish Storytelling Centre once more on Friday 29 January. This compelling performance weaves together profound themes, drawing inspiration from the harrowing narratives of Holocaust history, the deeply personal journey of living with disability, and the philosophical underpinnings of Rudolf Steiner's Philosophy of Freedom. The talented performer, Iddo Oberski, masterfully blends a rich tapestry of artistic elements. Audiences can expect an engaging experience that incorporates captivating storytelling, expressive movement, the evocative artistry of puppetry, and striking visual art. Oberski will share the stage with his puppet counterpart, Svjetlana, creating a unique and dynamic dialogue between the two. This is a remarkable opportunity to witness a thought-provoking and emotionally resonant piece of theatre. Tickets for this singular event are available within a price range of £10 to £12, offering an accessible gateway to an evening of introspection and artistic brilliance.

The performance blends storytelling, movement, puppetry, visual art, music, spoken word, magic and philosophy to explore themes of identity, freedom, connection and meaning. The Scottish Storytelling Centre is fully wheelchair accessible, including the theatre and all other spaces. Accessible toilets are available, with baby changing facilities on the ground floor. Assistance dogs are permitted inside the venue. Performances take place on 29 January, 15 March, 13 June and 20 November 2026. Tickets must be booked in advance.
