Southampton Far East POW Repatriation Memorial Event

Join us in person to honor and remember the brave Far East Prisoners of War returning from captivity to the Port of Southampton in 1945 and 1946 at the Southampton FEPOW Repatriation Memorial Event. It's a heartfelt gathering to pay tribute, share stories, and connect with others who hold this history close. Some 22,000 FEPOWs and civilian captives returned to Southampton after experiencing horrifc experiences in the Far East. We remember those survivors; and those who did not make it home. Whether you have a personal connection or just want to show support, your presence matters. Come along for a meaningful day filled with respect, remembrance, and community.

The Itinerary

From 1000: Please join us at the Dancing Man Brewery, Town Quay Southampton SO14 2AR for complimentary teas and coffees on 18th November.

1045: The procession will form up outside the Dancing Man with standard bearer and the Lord Mayor leading the way to the Southampton FEPOW repatriation memorial plaque at Town Quay Park some 50 yards away across Bugle Street.

1100: There will follow a short memorial led by the Canon Vicar of St Michaels Church Bugle Street. Representatives of Southampton City Council, and Associated British Ports will be in attendance, as will pupils from the nearby St Johns primary school. Wreaths will be laid and all are welcome to do so if they so wish.

1145: The event finishes with wreath laying and a bugler playing 'The Last Post'.

1200 onwards: and those that wish are welcome to return to the Dancing Man to meet up and enjoy drinks, lunch and conversation should they so wish.
