The guided walk will examine the diverse population that has inhabited, worked within, and shaped Castlegate throughout history. Participants will learn about the range of people who have left their mark on this part of Sheffield.

The walk will feature stories about various individuals, including Mary Stewart, a world-famous asylum seeker, Charlie Peace, a notorious Victorian master criminal, and Ella Hudson Gaskin, an industrial giantess who has been largely forgotten. The stories will be shared by guide Simon Ogden.

The event takes place on September 14th, 2026, at Lady's Bridge in Sheffield. It is free to attend.
