About This Event
A burlesque dance workshop led by choreographer Lara Gothique will be held at Chapeltown Community Centre in Sheffield. Participants will learn the Lady Marmalade routine. Tickets are from £45.00.

Join multi-award-winning choreographer, teacher, performer, and producer Lara Gothique for a fabulous, expert-led afternoon of high-energy burlesque choreography, theatrical performance, confidence, attitude, and plenty of sass.
Whether you are completely new to burlesque, returning to dance after some time away, or already have dance or performance experience, you will be warmly welcomed and encouraged to work at a level that feels right for you.

Date: Sunday 23rd August 2026
Time: 3:00pm-5:30pm
The venue will be open from 2:30pm for arrivals.
Please arrive at least 5-10 minutes before the workshop begins.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
During the workshop, you will learn the complete “Lady Marmalade” choreography step by step, with plenty of time to practise, ask questions, and bring your own personality to the routine.
The workshop will include:
Burlesque-inspired choreography
Musicality, timing, and performance skills
Confident movement and character
Theatrical expression and stage presence
Optional clothing-removal and striptease elements
Adaptations to suit different experience, mobility, and confidence levels
No previous dance or performance experience is required.
Absolute beginners are very welcome, along with experienced dancers and performers looking to refine their technique, confidence, and performance skills.
OPTIONAL STRIPTEASE ELEMENT
The striptease element is completely optional.
You can enjoy the full routine purely as a dance piece, experiment with selected clothing-removal elements, or perform a burlesque striptease down to nipple tassels or pasties if you wish.
Lower-body clothing may also be removed, provided that a minimum of knickers or pants remains in place.
There is absolutely no pressure to remove any clothing.
Full nudity is not permitted within the workshop.
Burlesque is all about the art, performance, anticipation, and suggestion of tease.
WHAT TO WEAR
Wear comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement, such as leggings, sportswear, and a stretchy top.
Layering is recommended, particularly if you would like to experiment with any of the optional clothing-removal elements.
Special dance shoes are not compulsory.
You may wear:
Dance shoes
Comfortable heeled shoes or ankle boots
Flat shoes
Socks
Bare feet
For safety reasons, slingback shoes, platform shoes, and pole dance-style shoes are not permitted.
WHAT TO BRING
You are welcome to bring easy-to-remove clothing or accessories to wear over your main workshop outfit.
Suitable items might include:
Gloves
A robe or wrap
A scarf
A sarong
A shirt or blouse
A bra worn over your workshop clothing
Nipple tassels or pasties
Please do not worry about choosing the perfect items. Simply bring what you already have, and Lara can help you select suitable pieces during the session.
Please also bring a bottle of water.
