Situated in the Students' Union building on the Preston campus, the tour will introduce the Special Collections the university holds, followed by brief talks focusing on what two collections can tell us about growing up in Lancashire. The highlighted collections are the Livesey Collection, where Historian Dr Annemarie McAllister will provide a history of the Band of Hope in ten objects, followed by a spotlight on the Shepherd Street Mission Collection, where Archivist Fran Robinson will talk through what oral history tapes tell us about life at the mission, and how these are being digitised and transcribed to reach wider audiences.
