About This Event

The Kitchen Garden Tours at Kingston Lacy bring a volunteer guide to meet visitors for a free guided tour of the garden. The tours aim to recreate Walter Bankes' Victorian Kitchen Garden. The garden was built in 1910. Admission is required.

Meet a volunteer guide for a free guided tour of Kingston Lacy's Kitchen Garden. We have been working hard to bring Walter Bankes’ dream Victorian Kitchen Garden back to life. At the end of the 19th century, the Kitchen Garden was the crowning glory of the whole garden and forming the climax of the ornamental garden route.

Find out why this was the Bankes family's place to escape, and how it's now used to grow seasonal products for the Stables café.

Meet the garden guide by the thatched hut in the Kitchen Garden at 11:30am and 2pm.

These free tours run on the first Wednesday of the month in May, June, July, September and October. Tours are free and there is no pre-booking required. Normal admissions charges apply. National Trust members will need to show their membership cards at Visitor Reception and non-members will need to pay the admission price (from £23 per adult, £11.50 per child) or join the National Trust.

This is a walking tour lasting for approximately 60-minutes. Please note the meeting point for this walk is approximately a 20-minute walk from the entrance (Visitor Reception).
