Our National Trust guided walk volunteers will discuss the ancient monuments we pass and help us imagine what it was like for our ancestors; their use of wild plants, crops, industry and crafts.

The walk is approx 7 miles (taking up to 5 hours, including lunch break) and is linear, so follows the same route back, but detours to the Grey Mare and Her Colts and the Hellstone ensuring you see different things in the landscape walking the other way!

The views and changes of landscape are amazing.

We are using public footpaths or bridleways all the way with just one road to cross at the top of Portesham Hill and a few hundred metres of roads to walk along from Bishop’s Road to the entrance to Gorwell Farm.

The bridleway from the entrance to Gorwell Farm to Tenants Hill can be particularly muddy and slippery when wet and from Hampton Stone Circle to Bishop’s Road is ’tricky’ underfoot.
