About This Event

This event promises a deep dive into understanding autism as a condition that predominantly affects men, exploring why this is often misunderstood or neglected for women. The Science of Autism & Women: Unseen and Unheard aims to shed light on these issues with expert talks and insights from various speakers, all within the engaging setting of Plymouth's The Quad Theatre. Engagement through Q&A sessions ensures attendees leave informed and inspired to foster more inclusive communities.

Discover how autism presents in women, why it is often overlooked, and ways to create more supportive, inclusive environments. With Q&A.

Autism in women is gaining increasing recognition, yet many women remain undiagnosed, misunderstood, or misidentified for years. Join Dr Emilie Moorhead, Clinical Psychologist, for an insightful talk exploring how autism presents in women, why it is so often overlooked, and the impact this can have on daily life.

Drawing on clinical experience and current research, Dr Moorhead will explore the lived experiences of autistic women, challenging common myths and misconceptions along the way. Topics include masking, mental health, identity and the diagnostic journey. You’ll gain a deeper understanding of both the challenges autistic women face and the strengths they bring, along with practical ways to create more supportive and inclusive environments.

Doors open at 6:45pm, talk starts at 7:30pm - come down early to grab a good seat!
