Introduction to Writing for Children: 6-Week Course

Do you have an idea for a children’s story but aren’t sure where to begin? Perhaps you would love to write a picture book, novel, film or television story that young readers will want to return to again and again.

This six-week, in-person course will introduce you to the fundamentals of writing fiction for children and young adults. Through practical exercises, discussion and supportive guidance, you’ll explore character, plot, setting, voice and the expectations of different age groups.

By the end of the course, you’ll have developed your story idea, strengthened your understanding of writing for younger audiences and begun creating a story of your own.

This is an adult creative-writing course about writing fiction for children. It is not a children’s activity.
