Film4Food: I, Daniel Blake
A film night in support of Plymouth Food Bank
Join us for Film4Food, a special community screening of Ken Loach’s acclaimed and deeply moving film I, Daniel Blake, raising funds for Plymouth Food Bank.
Winner of the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, I, Daniel Blake tells the story of Daniel, a widowed carpenter who finds himself struggling to navigate the benefits system after becoming unable to work. Along the way, he meets Katie, a young single mother trying to build a new life for herself and her children.
It is a powerful, compassionate and at times surprisingly funny film about dignity, friendship, hardship and the importance of people looking out for one another. Its portrayal of food poverty and the pressures faced by people who suddenly find themselves needing help makes it particularly fitting for an evening supporting the vital work of our local food bank.
Admission is free
Refreshments and snacks will be available during the evening in return for suggested donations.
Every contribution will help us raise money for Plymouth Food Bank and the people in our local community who rely on its support.
There are only approximately 80 places available, so please book early to make sure you don’t miss out.
Come along for a thought-provoking film, an enjoyable evening with friends and neighbours, and the chance to support a very worthwhile local cause.
Watch a great film. Share an evening together. Help put food on someone’s table.
