About This Event

Humanists UK will host a presentation for those interested in learning about the charity at the North Oxford Association Community Centre. Free to attend.

Join us for a presentation to discover Humanists UK and help shape Oxford Humanism!

Humanists UK is the national charity representing non-religious people and promoting secular humanism, reason and human rights. With more than half of the UK population now identifying as having no religion, its work has never been more important. Yet many people are unaware of just how much Humanists UK does — from influencing social policy to championing the rights and interests of non-religious people and much more. Join us for a fascinating introduction to the organisation and discover the surprising breadth of its work.

A recent, very successful addition has been the Local Groups initiative started in 2023, which is bringing humanism to local communities, with 23 local groups now established and more on the way. Oxford Humanists will soon be celebrating its second birthday, and we’re excited about what comes next!

The meeting will begin with a presentation about Humanists UK, followed by a section about our Local Oxford Group and our plans for the future. After a tea and coffee break, we’ll move into an informal discussion. What events would you like to see? What activities could we organise? And, most importantly, how can you help make them happen?

As a volunteer organisation, Oxford Humanists depends on the enthusiasm and involvement of its members. Come along, share your ideas, meet fellow humanists and help us build an exciting programme of social, educational and outreach events for Oxford.

The event is free to attend, but donations are very welcome to help cover venue hire etc. These can be made online when registering for the event or on the night. https://humanists.uk/local-group/oxford/
