About This Event

Sunday Long Ride to Newstead Abbey will run at Forest Recreation Ground: Outside Homemade Cafe, offering a free 22-mile cycle ride to the abbey, starting at a designated meeting point.

Come and join us on our Sunday long ride to the Abbey... 22 miles of undulating terrain, cycle paths, some road and a well-deserved cuppa!

Meeting at the cafe outside the Pavilion at Forest rec, we'll head out on some twisty, windy back streets before hitting some great bike paths (NCN route 6) all the way up through Bulwell and into Bestwood Village. The route takes us past Hucknall and into Newstead for a well-deserved cafe stop and to admire the medieval abbey and grounds in all it's glory! Once rested and refreshed, we'll head back to the city along some repeating and also new cycle paths.

Our monthly long ride is for the more improver cyclist as the distance is longer and the terrain a tad more challenging. Please also note that this ride does not include access to the Abbey or gardens, just the cafe and the outside area in front of the big house.

We welcome women of all ages, abilities and backgrounds, we ride at the pace of the slowest rider, stop for breaks whenever you want and promise you will never be alone at the back!

MEETING POINT: Outside the Forest Rec Pavilion (cafe). Click here for a google pin.

TIME: meet at 9:45am, ready to ride at 10am.

Click here for a link to Komoot for the full route file.

You’ll be in safe hands, we’re experienced ride leaders who love cycling. Before and during the ride we will be sharing all the tips and tricks to get the most out of cycling.

This ride is organised by Women in Tandem, a Community Interest Company based in Nottingham that aims to support and empower women to ride bikes. The session is funded by The National Lottery Reaching Communities Fund.

You won’t need anything fancy, just a bike that rides, comfortable weather-appropriate clothing, water, snacks and some enthusiasm for cycling! Let us know if there is anything we can do to help enable you to join this ride.
