About This Event

Hike the Stour valley and Kings Wood event is planned for 10 April 2027 at 08:40, starting from Saint Pancras Station in London. This intermediate-level walk covers 22km with an ascent of 460m and a descent of 457m, lasting between 6 to 7 hours.

GRADE: Intermediate, 22km/ 14 miles, 460m ascent, 457m descent, 6-7hr walking time, undulating footpaths and bridleways.

This delightful hike passes us through the beautiful Kent countryside an area of outstanding natural beauty, with stunning views across the stour valley, and takes us through two of the prettiest villages in Kent, Wye and Chilham.

We climb out of Wye through Crundale and Warren Wood and walk through Chilmans Down where we have splendid views over the Stour Valley. We follow the Stour Valley Walk, passing through the neolithic long barrow of Julliberrie's grave.

Crossing the footbridge over the River Stour we arrive at Chilham, a beautiful little village with an iconic which has been used in many films.

The trail leads us past Chilham Castle, to join the Mountain Street path and enter King's Wood following a part of North Downs Way that offers us spectacular scenery and amazing views and carpets of stunning bluebells.

We finish our hike in a traditional pub with distinctive Kentish architecture at Wye, before taking our trains back home.

MEETING POINT: 08:40 at St Pancras Railway Station in front of the National Rail ticket office. Alternatively, we can meet us Wye Train station at 10:05.

TRAINS: We will be taking the High-Speed Train at 09:04 changing at Ashford International and arriving in Wye at 10:05 Train tickets are not included, buy on the day or in advance. (Return ticket to Wye please make sure the ticket is valid for the high-speed train)

WALK STARTS: Wye, 10:10

LUNCH: Pack lunch, snacks

WALK FINISHES: Approx 17:30 at Wye

What to bring: lunch, snacks, water, suitable clothing and hiking footwear, head torch.
