Esku Pilota Tailerra: A Basque Pelota Taster Workshop in London

Did you know Basque Pelota has a cousin right here in London? It's called Fives, a traditional British sport played on squash-court-sized courts, with rules similar to Euskal Pilota. The balls are light and it's played with gloves, so it doesn't hurt, which makes it a fun sport that anyone can pick up.

Stoke Newington School and the Rugby Fives Association have opened their doors so the London Basque Society can bring you this workshop. Come and discover the sport in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere!

What to expect

We'll start by explaining the rules, then get some practice in, and anyone who wants to will get the chance to play a few matches. The school has 6 courts, so there's plenty of room for everyone.

This workshop is for everyone: complete beginners, the simply curious, and anyone who'd like to keep playing afterwards. We'll provide the balls and gloves, all you need to bring is comfortable clothing.

After the session, we'll head to a nearby pub for anyone who wants to keep the afternoon going.
