About This Event

River of Light returns to Liverpool City Centre in October 2026 for its ninth year under the theme Together. The trail extends beyond the waterfront into new city areas and will be free to attend.

River of Light returns to Liverpool for its ninth year under the theme 'Together', with a bigger trail extending beyond the waterfront into new city-centre locations including Williamson Square and St Paul's Square. The free outdoor light-art trail has become a staple of Liverpool's annual events calendar since 2018, drawing tens of thousands of visitors. This year's confirmed artworks include POP! by Gentilhomme, an interactive installation of giant inflatable puppets; Dream Herd by Amigo & Amigo, an illuminated, interactive flock of sheep; and LOOP by Olivier Girouard & Jonathan Villeneuve, six giant zoetropes combining movement, light and sound. All three are UK or European premieres, with further artworks to be announced. Free entry, suitable for all ages.
