From 6 September 2026, the KAL - Leeds Road Sports Complex in Huddersfield will offer free adult cycling lessons, providing bikes and helmets for participants. The lessons will be suitable for beginners and those looking to improve their cycling skills.
Come and join our free sessions if you want to learn to ride a bike or improve your cycle control skills. Bikes and helmets available.
West Yorkshire Combined Authority's FREE adult cycle training programme aims to enable more people to travel by bike. Sessions run every Sunday until the end of October, except bank holiday weekends.
Sessions are available to adults aged 16+. You can bring your own bike, or one will be provided for you.
Our Sunday sessions are run by two qualified instructors and will cover:
Learn to ride - for those new to cycling. These traffic-free sessions will help you balance, glide and then progress to setting off, pedalling, riding under control and making the bike go where you want.
Beginners – develop your cycling skills and confidence. If you can already ride, we can help you develop your skills to include using gears, riding whilst looking all around, and riding on narrow paths such as towpaths. These sessions take place in traffic free environments and towpaths around Leeds Rd Sports Complex.
All our sessions are free and you can attend as many as you wish. However, we ask if that if you can't attend a session, please come back to Eventbrite and cancel your place because we always have a waiting list of people wanting to attend.
