Share your stories of Deverell Barracks and Laver Banks as part of CFA Archeology's survey of the site.

CFA Archaeology have been contracted by the AECOM on behalf of Homes England to survey the Ripon Barracks before their redevelopment and are looking for residents to share their memories.

Deverell Barracks and Laver Banks are being redeveloped into an ambitious housing scheme led by Homes England. Before this, Deverell Barracks and parts of Laver Banks are being surveyed by CFA Archaeology, to provide an archaeological record of the buildings and their uses. As part of this survey CFA will be recording the social history of the site, inviting the local community and ex-military personnel to share their stories.

We’re delighted to be working with Harrogate and Ripon Libraries to deliver this work. The Ripon Barracks site has a long history spanning over 100 years and we’re keen to ensure that these histories are documented, as part of the official archaeological record. For this work we’d encourage those who haven’t shared their stories before to come forward, especially people who live outside of the local area, who can speak to us via our Zoom drop-in sessions or via email.
