GWCA and BASC South West are offering 6 BASC Women Members the chance to have an exclusive three-day wildfowling experience.

Gloucestershire Wildfowling and Conservation Association (GWCA) and BASC South West are offering 6 BASC women members the chance to have an exclusive three-day wildfowling experience.

The format of the programme is designed to give you the knowledge and confidence to try Wildfowling while under the expert tuition of an experienced GWCA club member.

This will be a very relaxed experience giving you an overview of what wildfowling encompasses being both fun and informative.

Day 1 – Wildfowl Identification Day

Location: WWT Slimbridge

Date/time: 14th November 2026 – 10am-2pm

Skilled members of the GWCA identification programme will talk you through the various species, look at ways to identify key species and guide you through the many species of birds we may encounter while out in the field.

(Tickets for the visit are included in the total cost, but lunch for the day will need to be purchased on the day at the on site café or brought with you).

Day 2 – GWCA Site Visit and Evening Flight

Location: Poulton Court, Gloucestershire

Date/time: 5th December 2026 - 12pm-6pm

The day will start with a tour of the conservation projects the club delivers. Following that there will be several presentations on what is required to take part in wildfowling. Including, equipment needed, quarry identification and the dangers and precautions to take while out on the marsh. This will then finish with an evening flight on the Seven Estuary putting the learnt skills into action.

The day will have experienced club members to hand to learn from throughout the day.

(Cartridges and refreshments will be provided on the day).

Day 3 – Morning Duck Flight

Location: TBC

Date: 17th January 2027 - Time TBC

Opportunity to have a morning duck flight, putting all the skills developed over the two previous days into action. Followed by a breakfast and Q&A session to finish.

Attendee’s will be accompanied by an experienced GWCA member.

(Cartridges will be provided and breakfast included following the flight)

BASC members only and attendees must be 18+

Non certificate holders can be catered by prior arrangement.
