About This Event

Tracks and Tales is a weekly outdoor walk departing from Cumbernauld Library that will feature the book Hedgehogs by Hugh Warwick. The event takes place on 16 September 2026 at no cost to participants.

FREE weekly walk leaving from Cumbernauld Library - This week we'll be using the book Hedgehogs by Hugh Warwick.

Tracks and Tales is our new books and nature walk series, running in partnership with Cumbernauld Library.

Every week our Project Officers Paul and Krissy will take it in turns to go for a short nature walk from the Library, accompanied by a different book.

This week we'll be using the book 'Hedgehog' by Hugh Warwick which explores why we love hedgehogs, but despite that, how their numbers are declining in the UK.

Engaging with nature like this helps people to live happier, healthier, lives - and as we are doing it as part of the Nurturing Natural Connections project, there is the added benefit that by taking part you are helping nature too.

Everything we do is free of charge and everything you need to take part (including a hot You will be accompanied by an experienced outdoor leader from TCV or the Scottish Wildlife Trust on each session who will help you enjoy the experience. All you need to do is dress for the weather.

Sessions are aimed at adults and unfortunately we cannot accommodate under 18s.

Cumbernauld Living Landscape Cumbernauld Living Landscape is improving Cumbernauld’s green spaces for both people and wildlife, while helping everyone in the community connect with the nature on their doorstep. Funded by National Lottery players, it is a partnership led by Scottish Wildlife Trust, with partners North Lanarkshire Council, TCV – The Conservation Volunteers and Sanctuary Scotland.
