Steve's passion for photography has been lifelong, but like many creatives, it took a back seat to a demanding international career, culminating as CEO of a leading international animal health NGO. After years representing causes across Africa, India and the USA—more often in front of the camera than behind it—he finally embraced photography in retirement, earning his Licentiate with the Society of Photographers at the age of 65. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) and a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (FRGS), recognised for his work in Africa. Since then, Steve and his wife Alison have travelled extensively, using photography to connect with people, places and cultures around the world. Drawing on his experiences as a documentary portrait photographer, Steve shares a deeply personal journey of creativity, travel and finding a new purpose later in life. Join us at The Glasgow Gallery of Photography on Saturday 8th August at 4:00 pm to hear Steve share his personal journey into documentary portraiture. Through stories from his travels around the world, he'll explore the human connections behind his photographs, the ethical challenges of working in the field, and the experiences that have shaped his approach. It's an inspiring talk about creativity, travel, and discovering that it's never too late to pursue your passion.
