This crochet-along workshop takes place at The Summerhouse Rosemount Peel Street in Glasgow. Participants will create Peanut the Bear, a soft toy made with chunky chenille yarn. Tickets are priced at £83.04.
We’re crocheting . . . Peanut! A super-soft squidgy bear. A lovey, a comforter or perhaps just a softie. Made with chunky soft chenille yarn using only the most basic of crochet stitches and techniques including magic rings, join-as-you go for more secure joins and sew-as-you-go to hide all the messy finishing stuff inside. Both techniques are perfect if you struggle with hand stitching and adding details. We'll take things slow and steady over a few weeks to make this suitable for beginners. This crochet-along is suitable for . . . • Adventurous beginners (very much still learning, but confident to try something a little harder) • Anyone interested in Amigurumi or making softies • Refreshing forgotten skills • Anyone just looking for some creative company Crochet skills and techniques we’ll try . . . • A few of the most basic crochet stitches (US terms) • Crochet in the round, increasing and decreasing • Join and sew-as-you-go techniques • Following a pattern What you’ll need to bring . . . • A 7.0mm crochet hook • Chunky chenille yarn in 3 colours - a bear colour, a contrast for the muzzle and the nose* toy filling *I used Yarnsmiths Create Chenille Chunky in 5070 Brown Bear, a little bit in 5069 Latte for the muzzle and a tiny amount in 5002 Anthracite Grey. You may have something suitable in your yarn stash you can sub for the yarns you only need a little of. What’s included/ provided . . . • The crochet pattern • I'll have black beads for eyes, thread, neeedles, scissors, etc., but please bring your own if you prefer • Tea and treats When & where? • Saturday 24 & 31 October, 10:00 - 13:00 • There may be some homework to be completed between classes. • Classes take place in The Summerhouse with a maximum of 3 guests!
