The Byres Road Book Festival returns for four days in Glasgow's West End, featuring author events, live conversations, and storytelling.
The Byres Road Book Festival returns to Glasgow's West End from 24th–27th September for four days of author events, live conversations, storytelling, workshops and family activities – all completely free to attend! Now in its seventh year, the festival brings together some of Scotland's best-known writers and creative voices, with highlights including former First Minister Nicola Sturgeon discussing her memoir Frankly, bestselling author John Niven in conversation with BAFTA-winning screenwriter Andrea Gibb, and award-winning children's author Maisie Chan, who will bring her new picture book Chi Chi the Panda to Hillhead Library. There's plenty for younger readers, with storytimes, creative workshops and interactive activities, while adults can enjoy crime fiction, poetry, writing workshops, a Murder Mystery at Oxfam Bookshop and book swaps. The festival opens with a special evening celebrating acclaimed Scottish writer Agnes Owens, presented in collaboration with the Agnes Owens Archive, closing with From Page to Screen, exploring the journey from novel to film and television. Events take place at venues across Byres Road, including Òran Mór, Hillhead Library, Oxfam Bookshop and the Clarice Pears building at Glasgow University. All events are free, but booking via Eventbrite is required.
