The UOECC MTB Taster Ride #1 will take place at the Exeter University Sports Park in Exeter on 2026-09-17, providing a taster mountain biking experience for those new to the sport. The event is free to attend.
Meet at the University of Exeter SPORTS PARK for 1:30pm, with departure soon afterwards.
Whether you’re new to mountain biking and want to try it out for the first time or an experienced rider, this first of two taster rides is suited to all abilities. We’ll be heading out to Haldon Forest park which is our closest official trail centre. It has varying degrees of difficulty ranging from blues to blacks, including some off pistes tracks. Bike hire is available, so don’t worry if you don’t have your own bike, if you do use your own bike make sure its in good working order and helmets are mandatory, you won’t be able to come if you don’t have one. There is a café here so you can grab some food there if you fancy or you can bring your own food.
If you hire one of our bikes, make sure to get one ticket for the event and one ticket for the size of bike you want to hire! There are only two so its first come, first serve.
IMPORTANT:
-> Please ensure that your bicycle is in good working order
-> Bring your own tools if possible, (e.g. spare innertube, allen keys etc...)
-> Dress sensibly. One thing you'll quickly realise is that good weather in Exeter is not guaranteed, so make sure to check the forecast beforehand!
-> Bring plenty of snacks and hydration.
-> WEAR A HELMET, or you won't be riding with us!
