Right Before I Go. makes its UK premiere at The Pleasance Edinburgh as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe on 5 August 2026.
From Stan Zimmerman (writer of Golden Girls and Gilmore Girls), Right before I go will make its UK premiere at Edinburgh Festival Fringe Pleasance Dome, Queen Dome at 15:35 from 5 to 31 August with a star-studded cast including Wendie Malick (Shrinking, Young Sheldon), Emily Kuroda (Gilmore Girls) and Stan Zimmerman himself, directed by Abigail Morris (Kindertransport, Colder Than Here, and current Artistic Director of Mountview Academy of the Arts). The suicide awareness play highlights the raw struggles of people in all walks of life that have died by suicide. The play uses real suicide notes of celebrities, veterans, bullied teens, those identifying as LGBTQ+, people who have experienced a range of mental health calamities —as well as those who have survived attempts. Right before I go. is followed by a talkback with a mental health professional, and will raise money for SL24: UnLocke the Light Foundation, a Delaware-based nonprofit organisation with a threefold mission: to educate, assist, and support young people on their mental health journey. Donations for the show can be made here: givebutter.com/rightbeforeigo. “After the suicide death of my good friend, Kevin Gill, I was at a loss about how to process this. Seeing so much shame around the topic, I decided to create a play in the vein of The Vagina Monologues, easily produced with actors on stools, reading the script from music stands. My hope is that this will create much needed discussion about a very complicated issue,” said writer and actor, Stan Zimmerman. Right before I go. has travelled across the USA, including a run in NYC at The Tank, often featuring star casting, and most recently attracting Vanessa Williams, Olly Alexander, Christine Taylor and Patrick Page. Further casting for the UK premiere will be announced shortly. Producers Claire Feuille and Josh Dooley of Feuille Dooley Productions return to Edinburgh Festival Fringe following the success of last year’s hit new musical I Was a Teenage She-Devil that transferred to The Other Palace in April. They are also co-producers of the Broadway production and North American tour of Operation Mincemeat.
