On Wednesday the fifth of August, the National Museum of Edinburgh will present *Lost in Translation*, a comedy event that takes a classic film script, feeds it through an online translator multiple times, and then has performers read the bizarre, mangled result live on stage. Each evening showcases a different film, with *Twilight* on the fifth and *Mean Girls* on the sixth, and guest stars encounter the script for the very first time as they read it aloud. The effect is deliberately chaotic and often surreal, as once familiar dialogue becomes garbled and nonsensical. The organisers suggest watching the original film beforehand to fully appreciate the humour. Suitable for those aged sixteen and over, ticket prices are available on the museum’s website.
Your favourite movies translated badly. Each night, we take a different classic film script, run it through an online translator a dozen times and then read the results live on stage in character! The final twist is that the guest stars read the scripts on stage for the first time. To get the most enjoyment, we recommend you watch the film beforehand.
