Running from Tuesday 8 to Sunday 20 September, the 2026 festival supported by the National Lottery through Creative Scotland, once again brings world-class musicians to East Lothian’s magnificent churches, halls and landscapes – from the riverside in Haddington and coastal Dunbar to mediaeval Whitekirk and the stunning Amisfield Garden – for 13 days of performances that feel both intimate and ambitious. Festival Highlights: • Major Mozart piano concerto project led by pianist Jeremy Denk with Royal Northern Sinfonia • Landmark Haydn residency from Concerto Copenhagen, including the ‘Morning, Noon and Night’ symphonies • The Festival in partnership with Scottish Opera marks the 50th anniversary of the death of Benjamin Britten’s with a concert celebrating three of his outstanding works for solo voice and orchestra. • Led by virtuoso lutenist and four fantastic singers Ensemble Jupiter mark John Dowland’s 400th anniversary • Concert performance of Mozart’s Così fan tutte with a star cast with Royal Northern Sinfonia conducted by Dinis Sousa • Festival debuts from internationally renowned pianist Javier Perianes, guitarist Samrat Majumder and the world class The English Concert. • Star period performance music line-up including Dunedin Consort, Tenebrae and the Marian Consort • Strong Scottish and contemporary threads feature music by Judith Weir, Stuart MacRae and Helen Grime, and Thea Musgrave, Anthony Braxton, Max Baillie and in his 100th birthday year, György Kurtág with his Kafka Fragments performed by Claire Booth and Tamsin Waley-Cohen. • A unique project bringing 100 Tubas to Haddington’s stunning Amisfield Walled Garden. • Major singers Roderick Williams, Nicholas Mulroy, Lucy Crowe and Joshua Ellicott perform a remarkable set of sing cycles by Schubert, Britten, Strauss and Janáček Over and above the funding the Festival has from the National Lottery through Creative Scotland, the 2026 Lammermuir Festival could not happen without support from its loyal and generous benefactors, trusts and foundations, including the Stevenston Charitable Trust, Friends of the Lammermuir Festival, its sponsor, McInroy & Wood, its volunteer ushers and hosts and its artistic partners - BBC Radio 3, Royal Northern Sinfonia and Scottish Opera.
