A brand-new music festival is coming to Portobello this August, offering festivalgoers the chance to escape the crowds of Edinburgh city centre while discovering some of the city's best emerging musical talent. Escape2Porty will make its debut on Tuesday 18 August 2026 at Portobello Town Hall. Running from 5pm–11pm, the one-day mini music festival celebrates Edinburgh's grassroots music scene and supports independent artists and local venues. While millions of visitors’ flock to the capital during festival season, Escape 2 Porty offers a more relaxed alternative just a short journey from the city centre. Set in the iconic Portobello Town Hall, the festival invites audiences to slow down by the seaside and enjoy a carefully curated programme of live music spanning acoustic performances through to full-band sets. The debut line-up features Venus as a Boy, Big Sister Shaz, Mark McColl, Queen Vee, Jack Brodie and the Lost Boys of Niddry St, and The World Before. "Our aim is to shine a spotlight on Edinburgh's incredible emerging artists while encouraging people to explore amazing venues outside the city centre. Escape2Porty becomes a new celebration of the city's independent music scene." Escape2Porty is strictly 18+, with valid photo ID required for entry.
