The concert will feature a large-scale work by John Wallace, his Symphony for Brass Band, which took fifty years to complete. This piece pays tribute to the landscape and history of his native Fife and some of the memorable characters he encountered there. The programme also includes Elgar Howarth's arrangement for brass and percussion of Modest Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition, a work based on artworks by Viktor Hartmann.

The performers will include brass players from three of Scotland's leading professional orchestras, as well as members of The Wallace Collection ensemble, which Wallace himself founded.
