The Van Gogh Shogh is a comedy performance by Philadelphia-based artist Donna Oblongata. The show explores what Vincent van Gogh would make of contemporary 360-degree technology. It takes place at Assembly St Andrew Square in Edinburgh.
The Van Gogh Shogh is the creation of Philadelphia-based performer Donna Oblongata based on the notion of what Vincent van Gogh make of today’s 360-degree spectacles devoted to his work. Donna invites audiences to step into a frame of barely controlled chaos alongside the maestro himself, now recast as a bewildered food courier who has stumbled into his own immersive afterlife. One part sip ‘n’ paint, one part karaoke and one-part Sotheby’s, four protegees are plucked from the audience to reproduce one of the maestro's his most famous works under his tutelage. The show is directed by Francesca Montanile-Lyons and Audiences can expect a funny, fast-moving and unpredictable night of performance and the real Van Gogh experience — bloodied ear and all.
