An immersive, compelling journey across centuries of tradition, told through fiddle, feet, Gaelic song and storytelling. This show powerfully explores how stepdance was forgotten in Scotland and kept alive in Cape Breton, and the lifelong friendship woven into its revival here. Ground breaking new work from award-winning director Gerry Mulgrew, and Deiseil Airson Dannsa founders - dancer Alison Carlyle and musician Amy Geddes. Deiseil means 'ready' in Scottish Gaelic. Be ready for a mesmerising reflection on issues of culture, identity and connection. deiseil / dʲeʃal (sounds like jay-shal) Deiseil Airson Dannsa is Scottish Gaelic for 'Ready to Dance'. 'It feels like the warm, playful collaboration of Carlyle and Geddes embodies the spirit of stepdance. This is the most joyful show I've seen so far this Fringe. It tells an important story with the lightest of touches and doesn't put a foot wrong.' The Scotsman ***** 'Vibrant, expressive and filled with joy.' Fringe Review Recommended for all ages.
