On 31 October 2026, QUAD in Derby will welcome Andrew Graves for a talk dedicated to exploring forgotten British horror films. This event seeks to shed light on lesser-known gems within the UK horror genre, often overshadowed by more well-known studios such as Hammer and Amicus. Attendees will have the opportunity to view clips from these underappreciated works, fostering an engaging discussion around their unique contributions to the genre. The evening promises to be a fascinating exploration of overlooked cinematic treasures.

While companies like Hammer and Amicus tend to dominate the conversation when it comes to British horror, and more recently directors like Ben Wheatley have shown that UK scares are alive and unwell, there is also a rich seam of terrifying home-grown productions which are often ignored or forgotten. This talk featuring plenty of clips and discussion, will highlight some of those over looked gems, prompting analysis of movies like The Ghoul (1933), The Man Who Changed his Mind (1936), Sleepwalker (1984) and many, many, more. Expect in-depth delves into the likes of Terrence Fisher, Tod Slaughter and Pete Walker. You have been warned…
