Home & Belonging: A Christmas for Cardiff is a free community Christmas event presented by AfroWales and SOEL, bringing together music, art and community to raise awareness and support for people experiencing homelessness in Cardiff.

For the past three years, AfroWales has brought people together during the Christmas period to support people experiencing homelessness through our annual community outreach. This year, we are building on that work with a wider Home & Belonging campaign, beginning months before Christmas to raise awareness, encourage donations, bring new partners on board and start a bigger conversation about homelessness, housing insecurity and dignity in our city.

At the heart of this year’s campaign is a creative collaboration with Cardiff based multidisciplinary artist Gloria David, who is deeply passionate about the subject and is using her artwork to explore ideas of homelessness, housing insecurity, identity, dignity and what it truly means to have somewhere to call home.

Through Gloria’s paintings, public artwork and the wider campaign, we are asking one simple question:

What does it mean to feel at home?

The campaign will culminate in a special free Christmas gathering at Tabernacl on The Hayes, bringing people together in the heart of Cardiff for an evening of live music, art, reflection and community.

The event forms part of AfroWales’ wider annual Christmas outreach, with opportunities for individuals, businesses and organisations to donate, volunteer, sponsor and support our work with people experiencing homelessness.

This is more than a Christmas event. It is an invitation for Cardiff to come together, think differently about homelessness and help ensure that people experiencing some of the greatest challenges in our city are seen, supported and included.
