Walking Tour of Herbert Baker's architecture, Cambridge
Our first exclusive Friends’ event will begin with a tour of Downing College, where Baker and his partner, Alexander Scott, worked on the north range and Chapel, then move on to the Scott Polar Research Institute, designed by Baker as a centre of excellence for study of the Arctic and Antarctic regions. Here we will see Charles Wheeler’s decorative sculpture and the bronze statue ‘Youth’ by sculptor Kathleen Scott, widow of Captain Robert Falcon Scott.
