Join Bristol's first horse life drawing session! Draw 2 free-roaming horses in a relaxing indoor arena environment. Open to all abilities!

Calling all artists in Bristol and surrounding areas! Join us for the first horse life drawing session at The Avon Centre, hosted by Max Wolfe Illustration! We will have 2 of the centres wonderful horses roaming free in a 35x55m indoor arena for you to draw over the course of 2 hours. As they are free to roam, you have the chance to draw them in movement which is great for some gestural pose practice! The session will be relaxed, friendly and open to all abilities. Artist Max Wolfe will be hosting and is happy to give some tips on anatomy if needed, but note that the session is unstructured for the comfort of the horses. Please bring your own materials! There may be biscuits provided.....

Please bring your own materials.

Seating is grandstand style seating on the long side of the arena (with wheelchair access). Please don't bring large easels as there may not be space. A sketchbook, board or lap easel is ideal. As the horses walk, you are more than welcome to move around and find a better spot to draw from!

Please be sensible around the horses. You are welcome to pet them if they come up close, but please do not enter the arena.

Accessibility and transport options

Free parking is available at the centre, or you can park at Blaise Castle if you fancy a stroll before or after the session!

If you are travelling by bus, you can catch numbers 1, 3, and 4 from Bristol city that stop within a 5 minute walk of The Avon Centre. If you fancy a longer stroll beforehand, get the 41 and walk through King's Weston House and Blaise Castle!
