About This Event

CIMA and Biffa are hosting a session at Biffa Waste Management Oldbury in Birmingham. The event examines how sustainability is shaping policy within the waste and resources sector. Tickets are priced from free to £10.00.

Join CIMA and Biffa as we take a look at how sustainability is shaping policy across the waste and resources sector.

Is sustainability genuinely driving policy change in the waste and resources sector, or is it still playing catch‑up to political, economic, and operational pressures? In this session, Simon Rutledge, Biffa Group’s Resources & Waste Policy Manager, unpacks the real forces shaping today’s legislative landscape. Drawing on over 14 years of experience at the intersection of sustainability, regulation, and practical waste management, Simon will explore how policies such as Simpler Recycling 2, Deposit Return Schemes (DRS), and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) are evolving - and what this means for organisations navigating a rapidly shifting policy

environment.
